A couple of months ago (and it’s taken until now to blog about it!), Adelle and I went to visit with Rich’s sisters and mom while the guys took a trip to Colorado. We had a great time, and Adelle really enjoyed spending time with her cousins, aunts, and grandma, and great-grandma.
The cousin closest in age to Adelle is Andrew. They never quite warmed up all the way to each other. By the last day we were there, Adelle would scream anytime he got near her. Not really sure all that went on between them… I don’t think he warmed up to me either. Or maybe he did and just chose a unique way of showing it!
On our second to last day there, I headed down the stairs to find Andrew playing on the bottom steps. I said hi and I think I may have tickled him or tried to play with him before getting into the kitchen. The next thing I know everyone in the kitchen is silent, and I feel a sharp pain on my right temple next to my eye. At first, I wasn’t sure what happened. I looked over at Andrew who was no longer holding his sippy cuy (he had been holding it as I made my way down the stairs. I looked down and saw the sippy cup by my feet. I had been hit in the side of the head by a sippy cup!
I haven’t had any large, hard objects thrown at my head in a long time (I eventually learned how to get away from the line of fire when around Sebastian!). So maybe Andrew had warmed up to me. He did notice me and gave me some attention after the several attempts I made throughout the week trying to talk to him and being told from him a very firm “no”. He gave me a souvenir – my sister commented that she noticed a bruise on the side of my face when we got back home…
